Why Access Control Matters
Traditional locks and keys are no longer enough. Keys get lost, copied, or never returned by former employees. There is no way to know who entered, when they arrived, or how long they stayed. If a key goes missing, you face the cost and inconvenience of changing every lock it opened.
Unauthorised entry remains one of the most common security failures in commercial buildings. Tailgating, where someone follows an authorised person through a door, is a persistent problem in multi-tenant buildings and shared offices. Without controlled entry points, you have no way to prevent it and no record that it happened.
Modern access control solves these problems. Every door event is logged. You know exactly who entered, at what time, and through which door. If someone leaves the organisation, you revoke their access remotely in seconds rather than chasing down a set of keys. If a contractor needs temporary access to a specific area during specific hours, you set that up from your phone and it expires automatically.
There is also the insurance angle. Many commercial property insurers now require or incentivise electronic access control as a condition of cover. A properly installed system with audit trails demonstrates that you are taking reasonable steps to control access to your premises. In the event of an incident, those logs become evidence.
Access control is not just about keeping people out. It is about knowing who is in your building at any given moment. In an emergency evacuation, that information can be critical. For compliance purposes, whether that is GDPR-controlled areas, server rooms, or hazardous material stores, restricting and recording access is often a regulatory requirement.
Systems We Install
Keypad & Fob Entry
PIN code keypads and contactless fob or card readers for straightforward, reliable entry control. Ideal for office buildings, communal entrances, and staff-only areas. Each fob is individually programmable, so you can assign and revoke access per person without affecting anyone else.
Biometric Access
Fingerprint and facial recognition readers for high-security areas where credentials cannot be shared or lost. Biometric systems eliminate the risk of tailgating with borrowed fobs and provide the highest level of individual accountability. Suited to server rooms, pharmaceutical stores, and executive areas.
Intercom & Video Entry
Audio and video intercom systems that let you screen visitors before granting access. See who is at the door from your desk, phone, or a dedicated monitor. Integrated with electric locks for remote door release. Essential for reception areas, residential blocks, and gated sites.
Mobile App Control
Smartphone-based access using Bluetooth or NFC. No fobs or cards to carry, lose, or replace. Grant temporary access to visitors via a time-limited digital credential sent to their phone. View live access logs, lock and unlock doors remotely, and receive real-time notifications of entry events.
Brands We Work With
We are specialists in UniFi Access and Hikvision access control platforms. These are enterprise-grade, IP-based systems that run on your existing network infrastructure. Unlike proprietary systems that lock you into a single vendor, IP-based access control gives you flexibility, scalability, and the ability to manage everything through a single interface.
Our expertise goes well beyond installation. We configure every aspect of the system: user permissions, door schedules, access groups, anti-passback rules, lockout policies, and integration triggers. We build the system around your operational requirements, not the other way around. If you need a door to unlock automatically at 8am on weekdays but remain locked on bank holidays, we set that up. If you need certain users restricted to specific floors during certain hours, we configure it.
Both UniFi Access and Hikvision platforms support full remote management. You can add users, issue credentials, adjust schedules, and pull access reports from anywhere. We also provide ongoing support and can manage the system on your behalf if you prefer a hands-off approach. Firmware updates, troubleshooting, and system health monitoring are all included in our managed service plans.
We also work with other IP-based platforms where the project requires it. If you have an existing system from another manufacturer, we will assess whether it can be expanded or whether a migration makes more sense. Our goal is always to recommend the solution that best fits the building and the budget.
Integration with CCTV and Alarms
Access control works best as part of a unified security platform. When your access system talks to your CCTV cameras and intruder alarms, you get a single, coherent view of everything happening at your property. A door entry event triggers the nearest camera to record. An after-hours access attempt triggers an alarm notification. A forced door alert sends a video clip to your phone.
We design these integrations from the outset. Rather than bolting together separate systems from different providers, we build a security ecosystem where every component works together. One dashboard, one provider, one point of contact. If you already have a CCTV system or an alarm system installed by us, adding access control is straightforward. If your existing systems were installed by another provider, we will assess compatibility and advise on the best integration approach.
This unified approach also simplifies management. Instead of logging into three separate platforms to check cameras, alarms, and door access, everything is accessible from one place. For property managers overseeing multiple sites, this consolidation saves significant time and reduces the risk of something being missed.
Who It's For
Access control is relevant to any building where you need to manage who comes and goes. Our systems are installed across a wide range of property types.
- Commercial offices - control entry to the building, individual floors, meeting rooms, and server rooms. Manage employee and visitor access centrally.
- Residential blocks - secure communal entrances, car parks, and bin stores. Issue and revoke fobs for tenants without changing locks.
- Construction sites - restrict access to authorised personnel only. Log who is on site for health and safety compliance.
- Co-working spaces - provide flexible, time-based access for members. Grant 24/7 access to premium members and restricted hours to others.
- Warehouses - control entry to loading bays, storage areas, and high-value zones. Integrate with CCTV for full visibility of goods movement.
- Schools and educational buildings - safeguard pupils with controlled entry points. Ensure only authorised staff and visitors can access the premises during school hours.
- Multi-tenant buildings - give each tenant independent control over their own space while maintaining building-wide access management for shared areas.
